Teachers Upgrade =)

New Orientation, A new work

Grow Up

Grow Up

by Dr. Paul Chappell
“And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like? They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.”
Luke 7:31–32

We understand the process of growing up physically pretty well. Every parent knows what it is like to teach their children to walk, talk, and feed themselves. As they grow older, the natural process should be that they learn and develop to the point where they can live on their own. If parents are still cutting food into little bites and “flying” them on a fork into the mouth of a healthy twenty-five year old child, something is wrong. When a physical or mental disability hinders the process of development, we rightly regard it as a tragedy.
Just as it is normal for us to develop physically, we are called to grow up spiritually. The work that God has for us to do for His Kingdom requires that we develop and mature. Paul highlighted the tragedy of Christians who do not grow up when he wrote to the church at Corinth, And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ (1 Corinthians 3:1).
If we are to grow, we are going to have to put in the effort to develop our spiritual “muscles.” I read that the great cellist Pablo Casals was still practicing six hours per day even when he was ninety-five years old. When asked why he did that he replied, “I think I’m making progress.” Rather than settling down and thinking that we have arrived, we should be continuing to work and grow throughout our Christian lives. The lazy approach does not build either physical, mental or spiritual strength.

Today’s Growth Principle:
One of the greatest needs of our day is for God’s people to grow up to spiritual maturity.

Be Patient

by Joyce Meyer - posted February 28, 2016

But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.
—James 1:4

James teaches us that we can rejoice when we find ourselves involved in difficult situations, knowing that God is trying our faith to bring out patience. I have found that trials did eventually bring out patience in me, but first they brought a lot of other junk to the surface—such as pride, anger, rebellion, self-pity, complaining, and many other things. It seems that these ungodly traits, with God’s help, need to be faced and dealt with because they hinder patience as well as other good fruit like kindness, love, humility, and other things.
The Bible talks about purification, sanctification, and sacrifice. These are not popula words; nevertheless, these are things we go through in order to become like Jesus in our character. God’s desire is to make us perfect, lacking in nothing. He wants us to ultimately be filled with the fruits of righteousness, which usually requires us to go through some difficulties that, although are unpleasant, do eventually help us mature.
I struggled with the difficulties in my life for a long time until I finally learned that God would work them out for good and use them to help me in many ways. He simply wants you and me to surrender and say, “I trust You, God. I believe when this difficulty is over, I will be a better person than I was before it began!”

No matter what you are going through, trust God that you are growing closer to Him each day!

Where were they?

Where were they?

Written by
Meg

Before I start working, I sometimes have time to read news around the world. Despite of my busy schedule, I recently realized that the world itself is too busy, too. It is quite scary for people to dwell much into world news thus, it is encouraged to read the Bible daily to be fed of Good News before anything else.

Lately, I appreciate more deeply what the Word of God wants to tell us. I am fond of those passages in the scriptures where they warned people. This simply means that God Himself loves us so much that He doesn’t want His people to be in danger but to be safe, be saved and have an eternal life with Him.

In spite of those warning, God also made Himself clear to me that He is a disciplinary God. That those who disobeyed Him, He also abandoned them. Looking back the story of Noah, people referred to him as a fool or crazy man. Who can someone create a huge ark without any sign of rain? Can someone imagine how Noah endured to tolerate what people say about him for hundreds of years in building the ark? If you are Noah, will you feel upset and stopped building the ark? Will you be disappointed for those years of waiting for the rain to come proving you are right?

People who mocked Noah died when the rain came and flooded the Earth for 40 days and 40 nights. Did God able to save these people? NO. Why? Because the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart (Genesis 6:5-6). Where were they? Where were these people? Aren’t they too busy for their own self, busy for their own businesses? Did they care much of what God told to Noah?

If I am to see, it is clearly obvious around the world what kind of people we have in the present times. The world is full of worldly things --- read the newspaper, watch tv, listen to music, most of which are not so good news than good news isn’t it? I don’t think God is happy about what’s happening?

Let’s take a closer look at Sodom and Gomorrah, the LORD rained  brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven, and He overthrew those cities, and all the valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground (Genesis 19:24-25). Why? Because the men of Sodom were wicked exceedingly and sinners against the LORD (Genesis 13:13); this was also supported as the LORD said, "The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave (Genesis 18:20). God Himself not saved wicked people of Sodom and Gomorrah but instead punished them with fire. Where were they? Just busy doing evil things, not right, unacceptable, and not pleasing in the eyes of God.

With the two stories one thing is common, one thing is clear, God was not pleased with people who are sinful and doing wickedness. He let them suffer in their iniquities. Will they go to heaven with him? I don’t think so? As Peter said, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY." If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth (1 Peter 1:15-17). Just thinking, if those people are not with him in heaven, are they in hell?

God is pretty sure about hell. There is justice both in earth as it is in eternal life. If people committed crimes, by the court verdict they will be punished of imprisonment or even death. Prison is without freedom while death is a passport of going to hell easily especially if that person will not able to repent. There will be another judgement after death on that person and that depends on God Himself whether he or she will have an eternal life with Him in heaven or will be thrown to hell with the devil (who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone), where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever (Revelation 20:10).

But here’s the good news. The story of people in Nineveh was exceptional. Despite that Ninevites were Gentiles, ruthless and warlike people who were enemies of Israel, God still extended His salvation to them. When God saw their deeds that they turned from their wicked way then God relented concerning the calamity which He had declared He would bring upon them. And He did not do it. (Jonah 3:10). That’s amazing isn’t it? God showed up His mercy and love for those who repented from their sins.

Another story who received an instant heaven was the other criminal who hang on the cross with Jesus Christ. The conversation was evidently stated in Luke 23:41-43 as it read --- “and we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man (Jesus) has done nothing wrong." And he (the criminal) was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!" And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise." What a great example of instant forgiveness! It was grace from Jesus Christ that saved this man from his sins. Did God allow this criminal to do good works as a way to heaven considering his limited time to live? NO. It was indeed the grace of God. The Lord is full of mercy and grace; it is undoubtedly amplified in Ephesians 2:7-9 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Why am I telling this? There’s not much difference between the people of old time and this present time. Some people are too busy to be selfish, too greedy, immoral, corrupted, wicked, sinful and among others which I believe made God feel so unhappy. I don’t know when the prophecies of Revelation will take place but one thing is for sure it will happen. We cannot stop it just like the prophecy of prophet Isaiah about the coming of the Messiah that was concluded when Jesus Christ was born. Likewise, the prophecy on the death of the son of God and was fulfilled when Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross.

The prophecies in the Book of Revelation are about to happen sooner or later, the question is where are we? Are we at work, at church, at school, at home? Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near (Revelation 1:3); as the Lord said, "Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy written in this scroll” (Revelation 22:7); “Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes, so that he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame” (Revelation 16:15). On the Final Judgement, everyone will be judged accordingly, good or bad. People’s fame, beauty, intelligence, education, achievement, position, trophies, certificates are all worthless especially --- “if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire” Revelation 20:15.

Truly the salvation of God is personal. He imposed His judgement exclusively. This simply imply that we have to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12). Can we work out for someone else’s salvation? I don’t think so? But we can only pray for them that they may see the wondrous and amazing grace that only God can offer for those who repent and believe in Him. On the other hand, the grace of God is not an excuse to do wrong and repent later on; what if there’s no more time to ask for grace and salvation? Will there be a second chance? One thing is for sure, everyone has a choice.

2 Corinthians 6:14

FIREPROOF CHAPTER 8

What is Grace?

One Message, Two Responses

One Message, Two Responses

by Dr. Paul Chappell
And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.”
Luke 7:29–30

The powerful preaching of John the Baptist as he prepared the people for the coming Messiah drew large crowds of people. Yet even though the message they heard was the same, there were very different responses. Some gladly repented and were baptized, while others refused the message because they were unwilling to change from their self-righteous ways and acknowledge that they needed God’s forgiveness for their sins.
If you take a bag of carrots and a half dozen eggs and put them together into a pot of boiling water, they have opposite reactions. The carrots will become soft and tender, while the eggs will harden. The same is true of the response to fire with wax and clay. The wax will melt, but the clay will harden. The difference is not found in the medium of these testing, but in the nature of the material. So it is with our hearts.
Some people endure great hardship and suffering in their lives, but their faith is made stronger and their spirit sweeter. Others endure very similar circumstances but become angry and bitter at God for allowing bad things to happen to them. The difference is determined by the condition of our hearts. That is why it is so vital for us to make sure that we remain tender to the things of God. If we do not, spiritual tragedy and divine judgment will certainly follow. “Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts” (Zechariah 7:12).

Today’s Growth Principle:
Keep your heart soft toward the things of God, and you will respond to the events of life properly.

Fellowship with the Lord

by Joyce Meyer - posted February 27, 2016

Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
—Jeremiah 29:13

No matter how many principles and formulas you and I learn, we will never have lasting victory in our Christian life without spending time in personal, private fellowship with the Lord. The victory is not in methods; it is in God. If we are to live victoriously, we are going to have to look beyond ways to eliminate our problems and find the Lord in the midst of our problems.
The good news is that when we set aside time with God, He meets with us. We can be grateful, knowing that when we seek Him, we will find Him. God has a personalized plan for each of us, a plan that will lead us to victory. That is why principles, formulas, and methods are not the ultimate answer, because they do not allow for the individual differences in people. As good as all these things may be as general guidelines, they are not substitutes for personal fellowship with the Living God.
Prayer of Thanks: Thank You, Father, that I can meet with You at any time of the day or night. You’re always here for me and You desire to spend time with me. Your Word says that when I seek You, I will find You. So help me, Lord, to find You in every part of my life today

The consequences of bitterness

Being Great in God’s Eyes

by Dr. Paul Chappell
“This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”
Luke 7:27–28

The Scottish pastor Ian MacLaren recounted visiting an elderly lady in his church, and finding her weeping. When he asked her what was wrong, she told him that she felt she had not done enough for God with her life. She said, “I have washed dishes, cooked three meals a day, taken care of the children, mopped the floor, and mended the clothes. That is all I have done all my life, and I wanted to do something for Jesus.”
MacLaren then asked her to tell him about her sons. Her three oldest boys were all on the mission field, two in China and one in Africa. The youngest was preparing to leave and join one of his brothers in the work. She had reared her sons to desire to serve God more than anything else. MacLaren told her, “And you say your life has been wasted in mopping floors, darning socks, washing dishes, and doing the trivial tasks. I’d like to have your mansion when we are called home! It will be very near the throne!”
The world is focused on major events, large companies, vast sums of money, and notable accomplishments. God is focused on faithfulness. The standard by which He measures our lives is what we have done in relation to what we have been given and the attitude with which we do it. Jesus said, “But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted” (Matthew 23:11–12).

Today’s Growth Principle:
The world may not notice or care, but God never overlooks the faithful service of His children.

See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled.

--Hebrews 12:15

We’ve all been hurt or mistreated by others. It’s part of life. And the truth is, we can’t change the past. And it does no good to ask “Why?” All we can do is move forward.

Yet one of the things that holds most people from moving on from hurts in life is unforgiveness.

If your heart has been broken, but you want to get on with your life today, you must forgive. You can never fully realize the grace of God in your own life if you are harboring hate, bitterness, resentment, or pain from your past.

But what if you don’t forgive? Today we’ll look at the consequences of unforgiveness. And tomorrow we’ll see how you can begin the process of forgiveness.

The first consequence of unforgiveness is that it will contaminate your personality with bitterness.

It’s like a weed that grows out of control in your life. When you become bitter, you become negative and critical. Anger and resentfulness can grow unchecked, and before you even realize it, joy and happiness has been choked out of your life.

If left unchecked, unforgiveness will devour your relationships and jeopardize your future. Bitterness can spread to your marriage and be passed along to your children from generation to generation. Worst of all, unforgiveness can rob you of a growing relationship with God.

YOU CAN NEVER FULLY REALIZE THE GRACE OF GOD IN YOUR OWN LIFE IF YOU ARE HARBORING BITTERNESS FROM YOUR PAST.

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

--Psalm 139:13-14

Did you know that God dreams big dreams for His children?

Not only does God dream big dreams for His children, He uniquely created and prepares each one of us to fulfill them!

Think about your unique talents and gifts. What specific passions and interests do you have? How is your family different from others? What circumstances in life have given you a different perspective?

You see, as a child of God, you are one-of-a-kind, a Master Potter’s original. He created you specifically and purposely. The Scripture tells us that God knew you and formed you in your mother’s womb.

Yes, God has planted seeds of greatness in your life. And you have everything you need in Christ Jesus to fulfill God’s plan and purpose.

So think about your unique qualities and rejoice in them. Ask God to help you look at your life’s experiences with a new eye. And then seize each opportunity to use your God-given passions, desires, experiences, and perspective to share Him with others.

AS A CHILD OF GOD, YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO FULFILL HIS PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE.

Boldly Serving God

by Dr. Paul Chappell
“And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind? But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings’ courts. But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.”
Luke 7:24–26
John Wesley and his brother Charles were part of the Great Awakening that shook both England and America in a mighty move of God. In part because of their effectiveness, they faced a great deal of opposition to their preaching. Hecklers disrupted their sermons, and on at least one occasion a bull was released into the field to break up an open air meeting. Yet they continued on undaunted, despite the obstacles they faced. John Wesley wrote, “Give me one hundred men who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not whether they be clergyman or laymen, they alone will shake the gates of Hell and set up the kingdom of Heaven upon the earth.”
One of the greatest needs of our day is men and women who are not afraid to take a clear, firm, unapologetic and open stand for Jesus Christ. The praise and approval of men is only fleeting at best, but the eternal reward of hearing, “Well done,” from the Lord is worth whatever the cost in this world may be. The courage of Christians has been little tested in recent decades in America, but the time is coming when we will be forced to choose between paying the price to take a bold stand for God or avoiding trouble by watering down our message. Only those who stand firm will receive the reward of faithful servants.
Today’s Growth Principle:
It may not be popular to take a stand for the Lord, but it is always the right thing to do.

Fireproof Quote

A Peaceful Change

written by

Meg

Today is holiday, 30th EDSA people’s power celebration. I’m not much into
politics whether I’m in favour of the Marcoses or the Aquinos. What I want to
amplify here is that Filipinos were able to unite for a common cause ---
Freedom.

When I was in grade school my teacher told us that Philippines was known for EDSA as the bloodless revolution, a record breaking history after the death of Ninoy Aquino. What do we have in mind when we say revolution? Isn’t it a mass
destruction, bombing is present here and there, uncertainty, chaos is all
around where people are at the losing end.

Despite of limited media exposure, Filipinos were able to gather together and call for one aim. Unite as one avoiding any blood to shed on street along EDSA. I believe that God was in control of everything. Prayers and faith meant a lot
for each and every one to sustain a peaceful revolt. Being conscious, aware and informed made all Filipinos to come together, bring closer and selflessly think of themselves but for the good of each and everyone’s lives. No one wants to be dead. They wanted Peace. They wanted to see their future children to grow and live a peaceful life. And I am one of them.

It’s been 30 years. Recalling history, in war, there’s no poor, rich, educated,
uneducated; everyone is equal. Everyone is a loser. No one is a winner. Who
says to the missiles, please don’t drop it at home. Who can stop the bomb for
not falling it into your feet? Who knows that a bullet will not bang into your
head, into your heart, into your body? Despite of fear, love conquers it all.
The love of our parents to be in EDSA gave birth to our freedom today.

In this simple note, I want to encourage everyone that despite of world’s worldly condition, we must have to be united and stand on the common ground. We have to fight what is right, pleasing, acceptable and perfect will of God; remember if God is with us, who can be against us (Romans 8:21).
NOTHING. The works of Satan will not succeed.

To all the heroes of EDSA, you are all worth remembering. =)

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

--1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

In times when you face challenges in your personal life or when your world seems to be falling apart, you still have plenty of reasons to be grateful as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Why? Because God is good… and He’s good all the time. He is full of grace and mercy, and you know what? He cares about you. He knows where you are in life and what you’re going through.

Also, remember that God is in control. He is sovereign. He sees the big picture—the past, present, and future.

What’s even more exciting is that the God of the universe has a plan specifically for your life. And that plan is already in motion. He knows where you’re going and how to get you there.

This is why you and I should give thanks in every situation or challenge—no matter how daunting or intimidating it may seem.

Because God will use it ultimately for your good. You and I may not understand why we face certain trials in life, but God has a purpose and a plan that is in place for you. Through it all, He is equipping, preparing, and positioning you for His ultimate purpose.

This isn’t just a good thing… it’s a great thing!

One of my favorite verses, Romans 8:28, offers this hope: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

With so much hope and promise for our future, how can we not be thankful? We are blessed because God loves us! We are blessed because God is still in control! We are blessed because God has called us to a unique purpose!

So no matter what you’re facing today, I want to encourage you to take a moment to consider your blessings.

Remember what God has brought you through and get excited about where He is taking you. When you do, you’ll be able to live with an attitude of gratitude no matter what your circumstances are!

TAKE SOME TIME TO WRITE DOWN YOUR BLESSINGS TODAY.
YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED HOW IT WILL CHANGE YOUR OUTLOOK!

Offended by Jesus

by Dr. Paul Chappell
“And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight. Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.”
Luke 7:21–23

Dr. J. Vernon McGee told the story of going out to eat with a group of pastors. He said, “As we entered one of the drive-in places in that area, a carhop approached us. She was wearing about her neck the largest cross that I have ever seen. The cross was jet black against her white uniform. I asked her why she was wearing such a large cross. Her reply was, ‘Don’t you think it’s pretty?’ I countered, ‘Do you know what that cross means?’ She said, ‘No, I do not.’ Then I asked her, ‘Did you know that 1900 years ago Jesus Christ died on a cross for you and for me?’ ‘Huh?’ she asked. Then I gave her the story of salvation. Her only answer was, ‘Well, I saw it downtown and liked it, so I bought it for an ornament.’ She said that it meant nothing more to her.”
The world downplaying the message of the gospel and the cross is sad but not surprising. The great tragedy in our day is that some who profess to be Christians are downplaying the message we are commanded to proclaim to the world in order to be more acceptable to society. God calls us to something different. “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach” (Hebrews 13:12-13).

Today’s Growth Principle:
Let us never be ashamed to publicly declare the message of salvation in Jesus Christ alone.

Faith When Answers Are Delayed

Faith When Answers Are Delayed

by Dr. Paul Chappell
“And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things. And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?”
Luke 7:18–20

While God sometimes answers our prayers immediately, there are other times when we must keep our faith strong enough to keep praying until the answer comes. Evangelist D. L. Moody told the story of one of the most notorious infidels in Scotland who came to one of his meetings. Moody asked if he could pray for the man, and the infidel just laughed, saying that prayer did not work because God was not real. He heard Moody preach a few times, but did not respond to the gospel.
A few weeks later he came to hear Moody again. After the meeting Moody asked him if anything had changed. The man laughed and said, “I told you your praying is false. God hasn’t answered.” Moody said later, “I relied on faith.” The team kept praying, and a few more weeks passed. The infidel went to a service in his hometown and told the man preaching, “I am troubled. I don’t have any peace and I want you to pray for me.” God had worked through the prayers of Moody and his group, and the man found Jesus Christ.
Even the strongest faith may waver from time to time during difficult days, but we must not give up on God. He has never yet failed to keep His promises. Our faith is not based on what we see around us but on what He has declared He will do. We do not need anything for confirmation of His reliability beyond what we find in the Scriptures.

Today’s Growth Principle:
Do not ever let the circumstances you face make you doubt that God will keep His promises.

Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.

--Colossians 3:9-10

If you have fallen prey to sexual temptation or any other kind of temptation, remember, as a child of God, it’s never too late for you. God is in the business of restoring lives, and you are no exception!

If you’ve fallen into any kind of sin, the first step is to confess your sin to God and ask for His forgiveness. Then, the Bible says you must repent, or turn from, your sin.

Now, I know that some sins… like addictions… are more difficult to turn from than others. That’s why I would encourage you to surround yourself with godly people who will encourage you to keep from participating in activities that are destructive.

Most importantly, though, I would encourage you to fill your heart and mind with truth from God’s Word. In essence, crowd out the bad things in your life with good things… like eternal truth from the Bible!

No matter what’s in your past, God wants to turn your life around and do amazing things with your future. And I pray that you will take the steps to start this process today!

CROWD OUT THE BAD THINGS IN YOUR LIFE WITH GOOD THINGS… LIKE ETERNAL TRUTH FROM THE BIBLE.
