Question No.3
Is Malaysia able to achieve the same success by applying all the Quality Management Techniques and technologies as Japan has done before? Kindly explain your view and elaborate on the reasons to support your view.
Yes. All things are possible. I believe that
Malaysia can achieve what Japan did a few decades ago. With its natural
resources, manpower and wealth as a nation everything can happen.
1. Just
be patient.
Knowing the
history of Japanese quality products and services, it took decades for them to
polish their craft and become a masterpiece. Their dedication, discipline and perseverance
to attain the good quality standard was truly amazing and great. Meaning, patience
is definitely a virtue that carries a lot of wait which simply means anything
that requires quality needs absolute time to achieve and see greater results.
2. Be
adaptive to change.
Cultural organization
influences majority of how a certain change will take place within an
organization and this is really quite difficult to transform. Lack of
accountability and afraid of committing mistakes or failures are two of the
major reasons why people do not like to change. Staying in the comfort zone is
the best way to avoid risk thus, growth within a certain organization is
certainly very slow.
3. Practice
the 14 Points for Quality Management.
Deming’s
contribution on The System of Profound Knowledge is really a best example for
each individual to practice. Knowing something is basically a knowledge and
exercising that knowledge is the truly wisdom. People who know certain ideas,
thoughts or knowledge will temporarily stay in a human mind but a person who
can exercise the idea will permanently dwell in its system. According to study the
retentive memory of an individual who practice what he knows is 75% and the
person who can teach what he can practice achieved 90% memory retention rate.
4. A
matter of Leadership mind setting.
This deals
with how a person thinks. Optimistic person can easily adapt to change. He
thinks challenges as an opportunity rather than problem. This is a good quality
of a leader. Accountable and knows what he is doing. He is not controlled by
others. He thinks of others more than of himself. He is a visionary who can see
the future. Selfless and always seek to carry win-win solution/situation above
all.
5. Following
the Seven Basic Tools in Total Quality.
Knowing and
practicing these 7 Basic Tools will serve the company’s interest to easily
determine greater quality solutions and services to a certain problem. By
giving accurate information on the following techniques, a better communication
will achieve and establish thus, problems are properly addressed and resolved.
ü Check

6. Continuous
Learning and Improvement.
This is very
important thing to consider because everything is changing constantly.
Technologies and sciences are improving and should be the same with human mind.
Innovation plays a vital role in every industry not to left behind or outdated.
With proper training and education, human capital development is also
increasing, thus human assets in the company are more competitive and
knowledgeable which can give to the company a better performance, increasing
quality services/ products that will generate less capital expense and increase
profits.
7. Practice
the DNA of Sharing.
Everyone is responsible to
teach the future generation. They are the beneficiaries and successor on the
success of the organization. Building quality culture might be easy to some but
sustaining it is another thing. Passing a legacy of brand value to the
organization makes it easy to survive in the real world. Providing the right attitude,
perspective and mind setting can only be done by continuous sharing, mentoring
and coaching. Establishing the DNA of sharing makes them acquire more not only
knowledge but wisdom that will forever become part of their human system.
