For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses. . . . For when I am weak, then I am strong.

--2 Corinthians 12:10

What’s powerful enough to bring even strong and prideful men to their knees? The answer is Jesus Christ, and His powerful love.

Now, it’s great to talk about Jesus and His great love, but I want to tell you today that it’s only when we come to the end of ourselves that we really begin to experience His love and power!

No matter how strong we may think we are, we’ll all come to the end of ourselves someday. We’ll all come to the point of saying to the Lord, “I can’t do it on my own. I need you, Jesus.” Whether it’s earthly struggles or spiritual warfare that brings us to our knees, we need to learn that Christ is all we need.

Have you ever been in a position where the only way out was a miracle? There is nothing like seeing God make a way where there is no way.  That’s why it’s sad to see believers who struggle to fix problems on their own without the help of God.

We need to understand that Christ brings us to the point of weakness not to break us or discourage us, but so that we might learn how to tap into His supernatural power! Christ wants us to turn to Him as our first reaction, not as our last resort.

I don’t know if you’re riding high or flying low today. But whatever your situation, make things easier on yourself. Don’t try to do it all, or fix every problem, by yourself.  Let Christ do His work in you today.

God brings us to the end of ourselves so that we can experience His supernatural power in our lives.

Trust in Completion

by Dr. Paul Chappell
“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”
Philippians 1:3–6

Noted portrait artist Elizabeth Shoumatoff had already painted some of the most famous figures in the business, political, and social realms when she was asked to do a portrait of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. She visited the president at his “Little White House” in Warm Springs, Georgia. Roosevelt went there often to soak in the warm natural springs for relief from the pain of his crippling polio. Shoumatoff began her work on April 12, 1945, but during their first session, Roosevelt complained of a headache. He died later that day from a massive cerebral hemorrhage. The famous “Unfinished Portrait” still hangs in the building where it was started, but never completed.
God has promised to do a work in our lives that begins at salvation, and continues for as long as we live. We need have no fear of that work not being done, for it is not our work, but His. “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2). Jesus not only began the work of our salvation, but He has promised to complete it as well. The victorious declaration on the cross, “It is finished,” is a cry of faith. The results have not yet been fully revealed, but our future is already sure and certain. There is no question about the end result of God’s plan for us.

Today’s Growth Principle:
We can trust God to do all that He has promised to conform our lives to be more like His Son Jesus
