Dialogue with GMD
last Saturday (December 1, 2012) was really informative and inspiring. I
learned a lot some basic and fundamental attitudes and attributes to become a
successful individual not only for work but in personal life as well.
S.P.A.R.E. means a
lot in life to me (Sustainable. Patient. Available. Reliable. Engaging). To sustain in this fast changing, challenging
and competitive world, someone has to be exceptional; and to be exceptional we
must have something to do, to contribute and to share at work place and in the
society and this requires a lot of patience
(staying power and persistence). To have power is to have wisdom. It is an
applied knowledge based on experience learned and encountered. Wisdom can also
achieve through the life lessons learned and experienced by our past and
present advisers. With their selfless time and availability; sharing has been a medium for us to grow more in this
business. With our mentors that are reliable
and well diversified, they are really great enough to be appreciated until now.
I can say that I was blessed and still bless to have them in my life. Getting engaged with them at anytime inspires
me a lot. With my age compared to them, they engraved their names to be made
known in the industry. Like Dato Gan and the rest of my previous managers, one
thing I have observed, they are selfless in sharing wisdom, experience and
knowledge that makes them great!
And speaking of
sharing, I would like to suggest/encourage my buddies to share about their
field of expertise. What are their strengths that we might be able to acquire
and know; their concerns so that we could be able to share also just in case we
had encountered that problem and solved it in a positive and constructive
way. In this manner, we can more strengthen the value chain we involved in. I
know that everyone has their own idea and knowing and discovering to know how
to fit into each other’s shoes made everyone feels more comfortable in dealing
with some issues and concerns. Essentially, it is a vital thing to remember
that in dealing with this kind of sharing, having the right attitude and right
perspective is a must. Being an open-minded and having a wide understanding
about these concerns will enormously a great help to make everybody stronger
and closer in establishing a good working relation to each other as we value
the essence of teamwork.
Most important is to
have a good heart; having a good heart is the key to understanding for us to do
the right thing and do the good thing. I learned from Dr. Dean Kashiwagi that
honest people are usually visionary and I believe that people who are able to
see the future have a better heart. Thinking about the future for the next
generation to have a better life is merely an important driving force for a
leader to pursue what he or she has started. The DNA of voluntarism makes it
great knowing and believing that there is no stronger than a voluntary heart
--- leaders of this kind rarely fails but succeeds in life.
When I attended the Working Adult's Camp organized by our church here in Malaysia, I learned three
important things in life too that I want to share. One is to establish a
‘perfect greeting’ --- it means that every people we meet in life, treat them
equally with respect and honor, a smile starts and signifies a warm welcome to
anyone we may encounter in life. Second, ‘protect our own light’ by stop
gossiping. Encouraging words are uplifting to the soul. Speak kindly. It may be
short but it will echo endlessly. Third, meditate and pray. Whatever our
religion, still we have our own God to serve. Serving our God means we honor
Him in our work place by doing & giving our best with a right attitude and
good heart.
Indeed, thank you for
the time and sharing. I appreciated much. =)
