Meg
In the 1st Corinthians 13, we can find
the wonderful meaning of Love. It was so clear and vivid. It is encouraging to
the extent that we ourselves look for a partner that possessed those
characteristics; personalities that exudes the beauty of Love. One thing that
makes me think of about the message was… among the descriptive analysis of
Love, how come that the first definition about Love is to be patient?
I believed that patience plays a very important
part of choosing a partner in life (aside from Ptr. Rick Warren's Biblical check list). Patience equals time as it goes for true
love. A seed can never be a sturdy tree in a day or night. It takes time to
grow, to mature and bear fruit. The same goes with human. Even the smartest of
genius, no matter how intelligent they are or shall I say a young kid with a
human intellect of Albert Einstein, still requires to experience the process of
adolescence stage, adulthood and become more mature individuals. Meaning, there
is a process involved; a stage that we cannot skip; a season in our lives that
we need to experience in order to make us more complete and full. A genius might be
mentally advanced yet his or her emotions are not totally developed hence,
requires time.
Believing that Love is patient, it expands your
emotions to become kind, not to feel envy or jealous, not to boast nor proud,
not dishonor others, not self-seeking. Being patient, we exercise to be more calm, meaning not easily angered, not keeping any records of wrongs, not delighted in evil but
rejoices with the truth as it is always protects, always trusts, always hopes,
always perseveres. In the end, Love itself never fails.
As the quote says that learning (the process) might
be bitter but the fruit is sweet. Literally, there is no sweet for any immature
fruit. Again there is a process or stages as it goes to friendship, courtship,
love, engagement and marriage. Learning from our parents the importance of
purity, respect, love and care, it makes us more capable of giving and
receiving love as well. Our net present value far goes beyond the surface aspect
of our physical, emotional, social and spiritual being. It will not depreciate but instead keep on increasing not only from the eyes of man
but importantly as the child of the Most High. The interest of our net present value
is truly what makes the future generations. Our story is their history. Our future value can set to be a model of our future kids, nephews, nieces and any younger ones
which I believe our responsibility, our legacy to carry on. =)
