Don't Give in to Your Fears
by Rick Warren
“From such terrible dangers of death he saved us, and will save us; and we have placed our hope in him that he will save us again.” (2 Corinthians 1:10 TEV)

God is watching over you, so don’t listen to your fears. This is a choice. Trust God, and don’t give in to your fears.
2 Corinthians 1:10 says, “From such terrible dangers of death he saved us, and will save us; and we have placed our hope in him that he will save us again” (TEV).
God’s promise to believers is that, no matter what happens to us, he is working for our good — if we love him and follow him. If you're a believer, the Bible says all things are working together for good — not that all things are good but that they are working together for good.
That means we can stop listening to our fears. There is no difficulty, dilemma, defeat, or disaster in the life of a believer that God can’t ultimately get some good out of. There is no need to fear the future.
Your fears reveal where you do not trust God. Today, make a list of your fears, and ask God to help you identify why you have fear in those areas. Then, ask him to help you replace your fears with trust.
Now, this next step is important: Expect God to start helping you learn to trust him with each fear. Then, watch to see how he helps you.
Talk It Over
  • What fears have you identified?
  • Why do you trust God in some areas and not in others?
  • When have you seen God come through when you thought he wouldn’t?
Believe and Enter Rest
TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:
Now we who have believed enter that rest…
Hebrews 4:3, NIV
TODAY'S WORD:
God desires for you to live in peace and rest no matter what is happening around you. When you believe God, you enter into His perfect rest. But if you are controlled by your circumstances, if you’re up when things are up and down when things don’t go your way, then life is going to be a roller coaster. God’s plan is for you to be stable, consistent, not moved by any of these things.

Anytime you face adversity or hit a tough time, one of the best things you can do is simply stay calm and keep your peace. When you’re in peace, that’s a position of power. You’re saying with your actions, “God, I trust You. I know You are still on the throne. This may be difficult, but I know You are fighting my battles.” That’s what faith is—believing that God is who He says He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. When you believe God, you enter into rest and walk in peace and joy no matter what is happening around you.
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Father, thank You for peace and rest as I put my trust in You. Today I declare that You are my King. I declare that You are faithful. I declare that my faith and trust is in You, knowing that You have a good plan in store for my future in Jesus’ name. Amen.
