Tonight
I want to share on my blog what I have learned about last night’s message from
the Bible in the Book of 2 Chronicles 34:14-33 ‘The Book of the Law Found’(that had been given through Moses) that was found by Hilkiah then he
gave it to Shaphan. Then Shaphan took the book to the king (King Josiah) and
reported to him.
Contemplating
on the setting of the story, the book was finally given to the reigning king of
Jerusalem that time and he was King Josiah. A king
who did what was right in the eyes of the Lord (2 Chronicles 34:2). Knowing the
personality of King Josiah, he was filled with love and respect to God just
like his father David.
When
the king heard the words of the law, he tore his robes (meaning as a sign of
grief or sadness) 2 Chronicles 34:19. Wow, it’s really a great loss! In the
succeeding passage, “Great is the Lord’s anger that is poured out on us because
our fathers have NOT kept the word of the Lord, they have not acted in
accordance with all that is written in the book.” 2 Chronicles 34:21.
Knowing
the personality of the King Josiah, I believed that the Book of the Law was kept properly after it was found; the
exciting journey of reading the Bible onwards is to know whether it was lost
again or stolen as some people claimed it was sold, bought and translated.
