. . . But when the cloud was taken up, they journeyed; whether it was taken up by day or by night, they journeyed.
—Numbers 9:21
Thankfully, our enjoyment in life is not based on always having enjoyable circumstances. It is an attitude of the heart, a decision to enjoy everything because all things—even little, seemingly insignificant things—have a part in the overall “big picture” of life.
Life is a journey. Everything in it is a process. It has a beginning, a middle, and an end. All aspects of life are always developing. Life is motion. Without movement, advancement, and progression, there is no life. In other words, as long as you and I are alive, we are always going to be going somewhere.
If you have not been enjoying the journey of your life, it is time to start. If you have been enjoying your life, then thank God and look for ways to enjoy it even more.
Prayer of Thanks: I thank You, Father, that my life is a journey. I’m not going to stay stuck in a difficult or trying situation forever—You are taking me through it. Help me to experience Your joy regardless of my surroundings. Help me to enjoy my life today!
In the Family by Faith
by Dr. Paul Chappell
“And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”
Luke 8:47–48
One of the most famous images from all the years of the White House is a photo that shows President Kennedy seated at his desk while his young son John plays underneath it. The famed “Resolute desk” made from the timbers of a British ship was a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880. Now if you or I went to the White House, we would not be allowed to just walk into the Oval Office and crawl under the desk to play while the president worked. But the family relationship made all the difference for John F. Kennedy, Jr.
God has given us the immense privilege of being adopted into His family with the full rights and privileges that come with having Him as our Father. “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is” (1 John 3:2). Although we have not received everything that will be ours as children of God, we already have the authority to enter His presence and confidently present our requests to Him.
This access is not because of our merit, but because of His amazing grace applied to our lives in response to faith in Him. From the moment of salvation we are in God’s family, and we should not be content to live like orphans. Instead we should climb under His “desk” with complete confidence that we belong.

Today’s Growth Principle:
Rejoice that salvation placed you in a new family—and live up to your privileges as a child of God.
