All According to Plan

All According to Plan

by Dr. Paul Chappell
“Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:”
Acts 2:22–23
When it comes to Christmas shopping, there are two kinds of people. One group starts shopping in October (or even earlier) with a detailed list of everyone for whom they need to buy presents and an accompanying plan of how and where they will purchase each gift until everyone is covered. The other group can be found rushing to the mall or a discount store at 5:45 on Christmas Eve, hoping to get there before the doors are locked. Both groups have a plan for Christmas, but one is a little more detailed and thought out than the other.
God had a plan for Christmas as well—put in place before the world was even created. And everything that happened to prepare for the birth of Christ—as well as His life, ministry, death, and resurrection—happened exactly according to God’s design. “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons” (Galatians 4:4–5).
This is a powerful lesson for us, not just at Christmas but throughout the year. God is in control, and though He does not move according to our timetable, He does work according to His plan. The sovereignty and power of our Lord, gives us a confident assurance that no matter how difficult or chaotic our lives may be at any given moment, He is still firmly in control—and everything will come together according to His perfect plan.
Today’s Growth Principle:
No matter how busy your holiday season may be, you can rest your heart in knowing that God remains in control and works according to His plan.

Choose to Be Changed

by Joyce Meyer - posted December 03, 2016

But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart.
—1 Corinthians 2:16

Do you get mad every time somebody tries to correct you, or tell you what to do, because you always have to be right? If you answered yes, I am sure that you are not a happy person. You cannot change others, but you can allow God to change you so that things don’t bother you anymore.
With Jesus Christ as your Savior, you can learn how to live a different way. You can have peace. You can sleep well at night. You can like yourself. You can restore relationships that have been ruined. Your mind can be renewed to be like Jesus’, if you read His Word and ask Him to help you live the abundant life He came to give you (see John 10:10).
