May my lips overflow with praise, for you teach me your
decrees.
---Psalm 119:171

Music is define as an art form whose medium is sound and
silence. It affects our senses based on how we internalize and interpret every
word it encompasses. Secular music differs from Christian music (based on my
observation). Secular music triggers our mental and emotional senses but not on
the level of our spirit. Our soul may not be fully moved (by any song) because
it doesn’t connect to our spirit however, that could only happen when the
lyrics orchestrated and connected with the Divine Light (Our God). The song
ignites more meaning and bearing as it upholds truth, love and security from
God. Songs that connect our spirit assures our soul to be more fully equipped
with love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control (the fruit of the Holy Spirit).
Worship with music is also an act of honoring God that develops
within us a joyful heart and spirit...
Some songs are like a soothing balm that heals...
and create intimacy with God through praying in singing.
Song of these kinds ignites our senses as we welcome the
Holy Spirit to connect with our spirit and commune with Jesus Christ through
praise. As we sing, it transcends our worship like an aroma of sweet perfume to
the Father --- Our God. It is an act of gratitude of saying and blessing our
heart to God as He blesses us with His Word in return. It’s a two-way
communication… from us (by praise and worship) to Him and from Him (by listening
the Word of God) to us.
Indeed, learning to appreciate music in its kind can be
more enjoying and interesting to listen to. Reminiscing the moments by singing
in worship inspires us how God turns sadness to joy, pain to healing, mourning
to dancing, from loving less to be more loving. These are some of the finest things that transformed in our lives through music that are so precious and worth remembering. =)
