The
Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4)
1When
the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2And
suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it
filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3And there appeared to them
tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of
them. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak
with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance. ---The Bible
I
was inspired to write this article realizing that there is a proper time for
everything especially when the Holy Spirit works for someone. We cannot force
some things to happen right away; in other words, it is our duty to plant the
seed (Word of God) but it is the Holy Spirit to do the growing process.
There
is a right timing if and only if we are obedient to wait. In the same way, it
requires a right mind set for the Holy Spirit to come-in. For example, if
people from the start set their minds that the Bible is corrupted and full of
errors, don’t you think the Holy Spirit will dwell inside of you? Will you have
still the passion to ask, to seek, to knock for absolute truth? Of course not
because even from the start people are totally deceive by the false doctrines
taught by their false teachers and prophets; what hurts most is that being blind
has no cure. Their vision is so dark. One more thing, you cannot help someone
who is blind if you yourself is blind, too.
But there is hope; the
only way to bring back your vision is to get a proper treatment. Transplant.
Nothing is easy… but if you have faith, if you have love
(love for salvation) it will happen. You will not get disappointed, you will
not get tired but instead you will get even more excited every single day that your vision will be back. This
is the work of the Holy Spirit. It is a gift from God that despite of his
absence physically, there He is. You will not get upset. Jesus Christ assured
this promise before he went up to heaven. That is why, we must believe in the
Holy Spirit even though we cannot see him yet we can feel him. From nothing to
something. It is called faith. It is the assurance of the things we hoped for,
the conviction of things not seen… but never to anything not even existed,
never happened, and never came to pass.
On
the other perspective, there are many people who have pair of eyes to see but
totally blind, and there are some who were born blind yet full of vision. These kind of people tapped their wisdom, their vision to those
people who have seen the light and believe that Jesus Christ himself is the son of
God. Who died and rose again. They were the witnesses who up to this moment,
you and I can testify they were truly existed. Whereas, there are some fabricated stories that people believe to be true because someone said so and if tested cannot be found. Those
with wisdom knows well the difference.
Another thing brothers and sisters, don’t let your mind insist that the Bible is
corrupted. I beg you to test it. Because if you deny that the Bible is twisted
and not reliable, you are simply insulting those people who wrote it. The writers who died to spread the Good News about Jesus Christ – the son of
God. The authors who are first and foremost reliable sources who were with Jesus. These are the people who experienced before their eyes the living God in flesh and in bones. Let me ask you, who is more reliable; someone who has seen Jesus in flesh with many witnesses or someone who invented a story about Jesus origin and that there are many gods, that you can also become a god.
God has spoken in the book of Isaiah43:10,11 — Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no savior.
Many people say that they believe in the Bible but when you test their doctrines, it's contradicting to what it says. Again, the Holy Spirit will not open their eyes if they themselves are blind. To be able to see is a choice, and once you desire to see again, then the Holy Spirit will give you the vision and ability to see aligned with the Scriptures.
Way back in College, I have this professor in Architecture who was a baptist. One of the things he shared with me was... to know God. It was a simple statement yet it challenged me. He was right. We cannot simply worship a false God from authentic God knowing that God by nature is a jealous god. Have you heard about the story of King Solomon? What good is it for a man to have everything yet loses his soul? At the end of his life, despite of his wisdom (rational thinking) he turned away from the true God, the god of his father David and worshiped different gods.
The same goes with the story of the king of Egypt. He was the most powerful pharaoh however at the end, God totally hardened his heart because of his stubbornness and disobedient. Will you want that to happen?
It is never too late. God has given us the freedom 24/7 to know him well. With the right attitude, we can begin to see the Holy Spirit. Thomas Jefferson once said, “When the heart is right, the feet are swift.” Remember, our heart sums up our desire, passions and emotions to which we can easily dictate the mind on the way our feet should go. However...
9Do not be as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding, Whose trappings include bit and bridle to hold them in check, Otherwise they will not come near to you. --- Psalm 32:9
It simply means... with understanding, the Holy Spirit will come upon you.
