The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

-- 1 John 3:8

How would it impact your life to know that Satan is a defeated foe? Well, he is defeated! But you can be sure that the devil doesn’t want you to know it. And he’s not just defeated in the future; he’s defeated right now! You and I know this because of what Jesus did on the cross.

Now listen closely. There’s something important you need to understand about Jesus’ death on the cross. Jesus wasn’t a victim of Satan; he went to the cross willingly. And Satan was not just running around doing whatever he wanted. God allowed Satan to put crucifixion in the hearts and minds of men in order to fulfill the plan of salvation.

And so, as Jesus was dying and cried out, "It is finished!" Satan thought, "Ha! He’s the one who’s finished.” And hell and its minions had a holiday. But three days later, the earth rumbled, the stone rolled away, and Jesus was raised from the dead!

The gap between a Holy God and sinful man was forever bridged through the blood of Jesus. Satan is defeated and victory is yours!

Now, Satan wants you to believe, "You're a sinner and you deserve hell!"

But God says, "You are mine. You are saved by the blood of the Lamb. You deserve heaven!"

SATAN IS DEFEATED AND VICTORY IS YOURS!

Keep on Doing Right

by Dr. Paul Chappell
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Galatians 6:7–9

When William Carey went to India, the concept of missionaries was sadly unknown and unpracticed among most of the people he knew. There was a great deal of resistance to Carey’s plan to take the gospel to a foreign land. Carey was not a pastor or theologian, he ran a shoe repair business. But his burning zeal to reach the lost compelled him to leave his home and country behind. His first years on the field were hard. His son Peter died, his wife suffered a mental breakdown, and it was seven long years before the first convert was baptized. There was little to indicate a mighty work from God was about to happen.
On a trip to England, I was able to visit Regents Park College at Oxford where they have preserved the letters William Carey wrote to his family and supporters during his time in India. They are filled with news of various difficulties and hardships, but also with an unwavering commitment to continue the work. He closed one of the letters to his sisters with the admonition, “Be strong in the Lord.” Carey remained faithful, and his work eventually made a major impact on India and challenged thousands of others to take up the missionary cause.
No one has accomplished anything lasting and great for God who was not willing to pay the price of faithfulness. Those who shrink or give up when things get hard will not see the harvest. Only those who remain faithful and keep doing what is right reap.

Today’s Growth Principle:
God did not promise us ease or comfort, but He did promise a fruitful harvest to those who endure.

The Power of the Better-half

The Power of the Better-half

Written by Meg

I’ve seen many couples in my life and it impressed me how they’re in-sync with each other.  Happy together as if everything is like heaven-on-earth. This is also true as I observed undoubtedly that in every man’s success there is a woman behind. I should say a woman described in Proverbs 33. On the contrary, the fall of a man is also a woman.

Recalling the life of King Solomon, I admired him for his wisdom yet as he grew old, it made me feel very disappointed how this great king became so blind. The Bible says …his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father had been. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians and after Milcom the detestable idol of the Ammonites.  Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and did not follow the LORD fully, as David his father had done.… (1 Kings 11:4-6). I can see clearly how these chosen wives made King Solomon so blind. Even in the Old Testament, people believed in many gods. Comprehending this thought, it scares me. If God didn’t like any man to worship other gods, Isn’t it more sinful to think to become one of the gods other than God himself?

In today’s generation, many unmarried couples stay together. Many believed it’s fine for two to be together in one roof as long as they’re both happy. These two people are not only wicked but also blind; because, if someone of them can see into the future they will not be able to fall easily into the pit of iniquitous living despite of the temporary shared happiness. Temporary means mortal life. This life we lived is not eternal that goes beyond after death. As long as their hearts are happy, it’s enough. The question is, isn’t it really enough as I ask myself.

Well, rationally speaking, it’s not right. It’s sinful. The heart is deceitful above all things and if we follow our feelings more than our intellect, it (the heart) will become desperately sick, incurable. It’s like when you lost your eyesight, there’s no other way for you to see again. All the things you see wrong will always be right but always remember being right cannot be made wrong; but if a person is absolutely blind, all wrongs can be made so right (just like what happened to the wisest man on earth King Solomon). This simply describes how powerful your better-half can be.

As I end this note, I realize that I carefully consider choosing my future better-half wisely because I might be ended in eternal heaven with God or immortal hell together with Satan, the beast, false teachers and false prophets. Life is so fleeting; studying, searching and meditating on the Word of God is a life-enriching experience. There is no other best way but to prepare for a life worth-living, holy, pleasing and acceptable to God while waiting for the powerful better-half; if not, be patient; be blessed because at the end of your life, it is not your spouse, your kids, your family who you will be meeting to get to heaven but the one and only God who created you to become man and woman He loved most and not one of the gods you like to become. God Himself won’t like it. (see Isaiah 43:10)

The Self List For Guys: 10 Declarations

The Self List For Guys: 10 Declarations

phonto (14)
ˈselfləs
adjective
“1. concerned more with the needs and wishes of others than with one’s own; unselfish.”
Be a great man, and then you’ll be a great partner. Don’t fall for the lie that a woman will complete you and make you happy. Don’t believe the myth that your struggles and addictions will end when you a put a ring on it. If you’re single now, take some time and work on yourself. Do you want an amazing woman? Become an amazing man. Is there something in your life you’re not happy about? Take care of it before you bring another person on board.

Make a commitment today. Here are 10 daily declarations that will prepare you to be a good guy in a relationship.

1. I’m calm
Work on your anger issues. Are you easily provoked? How often do you get offended? Do you have emotional issues you might or might not be aware of? You can start now. Commit to being a man of peace. Practice or get help. What would an honorable man do? He takes care of conflict before it escalates. Emotions aren’t part of the equation.

2. I’m financially secure
Maybe it’s time to start waking up earlier, and working efficiently? How are you using your money? Do you want a woman or the beers you drank last night? If you make excuses about your circumstances, you’ll have nothing. But, if you get going and work through the hard times, you’ll become successful. If you want to be a good man, be a good provider.

3. I’m guided
There’s a really good guy underneath it all even if you believe you’ve done the worst of the worst. A good mentor will draw it out. Find someone older, someone you respect, and ask them if they’d be open to mentoring you or pointing you to someone else who would be good. If  you want to be the best, learn from the best.

4. I’m committed
A nice guy is easy to find, but a faithful man is rare. Guys have commitment issues in general. If you’ve been in hook-up mode, do you think it’s easy to all of sudden become committed in a relationship? Did you know 57% of men have admitted to adultery in relationships at some point according to the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy? Commit to commitment.

5. I do what’s right
What does integrity mean? When you’re talking metal, it’s the ability of metal to keep its properties under pressure. Does your ability to do what’s right change with pressure? Integrity is long-lasting. Your kids will receive the benefits. Yeah, that’s right. Think long-term.

6. I’m authentic
If you have to throw “game” to attract a girl, what happens when the game is over? All that’s left is a guy who isn’t what he sold himself to be. Why live a lie? If you’re a dork, embrace your inner dork and own it. Become a more authentic man. Authenticity will attract authenticity, and it’s the only way to have a successful relationship.

7. I control my hormones
I’ve heard some guy say they like to sleep with a girl early on in dating because it emotionally bonds. Exactly. Why would you become emotionally bonded with someone you really don’t know? If you want an amazing relationship, keep it in your pants. Research shows “sexual restraint was associated with better relationship outcomes.”

8. I have confidence
If you don’t have confidence in yourself, you won’t have confidence in the relationship or in her. Confidence is a learning curve. It doesn’t happen overnight, but it starts with taking risk. Start living outside your comfort zone, and you won’t be afraid anymore. You can start by asking a girl out. If you get rejected, it’s fine. Give yourself a pat on the back for trying, and try asking someone else.

9. I’m a gentleman
Have some manners. Practice makes perfect. Help someone in need, open the door, assist an old woman across the street, give up your seat, put your phone down, etc. If you’re only being a gentleman to girls you like, you’re going about it all wrong. Being a gentleman is a way of life. Having #goodguyswag is a lifestyle.

10. I’m accountable
In addition to a mentor, every good guy needs a group of friends who are going to sharpen him and take him next level. If you have a great group of friends, you won’t worry so much about being single either. Don’t have a group of friends? Easy. Get involved. Volunteer and serve, and you’ll be surrounded.

Once you’re set on your path, obstacles will come along. Be discerning. Don’t let a pretty little thang keep you from your focus. Every word she says will be like honey, but keep your standards high. Relationships are marathons, not sprints. Refer to The Wife List or The Girlfriend List for more.

Happy Learning =)

Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say…?”
-- Genesis 3:1

One of Satan’s favorite strategies is to try to make you and me doubt God’s word. And this is exactly the tack he took with Eve in the Garden of Eden. Remember the story?

Satan told Eve, "God knows if you take of this fruit and you eat, you will be as God. God's holding out on you, Eve. He says He loves you, but he’s really jealous. Take and eat, enjoy, fulfill yourself and you'll be happy!"

Can you see how Satan distorted and twisted what God told Eve and caused her to doubt the love of God. And that’s what he does with us today. He comes to us with half truths and innuendoes and tries to plant questions in our mind concerning God.

He especially likes to do this when we’re facing trials and struggles. He comes when you’re weak and says, "Does God really care about you?" That’s because if he can get you to doubt God’s word and love, then it’s a slippery slope into the sin of unbelief. This is exactly how sin entered the human race through Adam and Eve.

Don’t be deceived by the enemy.Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

DON’T BE DECEIVED BY THE ENEMY!

Motivated to Action

by Dr. Paul Chappell
“If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die. Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.”
1 Corinthians 15:32–34

According to the latest statistics, the world’s population is rapidly approaching eight billion people. Never before have so many been alive on earth at one time. Though the typical lifespan varies greatly from country to country, on average a person born today will live about sixty-seven years. At the end of each life, whether long or short, lies eternity. Though many teach other concepts, the Bible makes it clear that there are only two destinations for that eternity—Heaven or Hell.
The fact that billions of people have never heard a clear presentation of the gospel should motivate us to actively work and support missionary efforts, both around the globe and across the street from where we live. Paul told the church at Corinth the fact that the lost have not yet been reached should bring shame to them. Charles Spurgeon said, “If there be any one point in which the Christian church ought to keep its fervor at a white heat, it is concerning missions. If there be anything about which we cannot tolerate lukewarmness, it is in the matter of sending the gospel to a dying world.”
The primary mission of the church and of each Christian is to fulfill the command to reach the lost. This was the heartbeat of Jesus throughout His life and ministry and it should be ours as well. “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd” (Matthew 9:36).

Today’s Growth Principle:
We cannot say we are truly like Jesus if we are not burdened to action by the fate of a lost and dying world.

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

-- Romans 8:28

There’s a debate among golfers as to which shot is most important. Some say that it’s the tee shot, because you need to get the ball down the fairway. But others say that it’s the putt, because ultimately, you have to put the ball in the cup.

Well, these are both important shots, but the most important shot in golf is the very next shot you’re going to hit, whatever it is. You see, no one plays golf perfectly, not even the best players in the world. But if you don’t take that next shot, then you’re not playing the game.

And when it comes to doing the will of God, you and I won’t always do it perfectly, either.
Sometimes we get off track or make a bad choice. But God doesn’t want you to give up on faith because you’ve made a mistake. Don’t let a bad decision lead to a series of bad choices, or one bad day lead to a string of bad days.

If you let him, God will take your mistakes and missteps and put you back on a track that glorifies him!

Take the next shot. Start doing what he says to do with your next choice. And according to his promise, he will cause all things to work together for good.

GOD CAN TAKE YOUR MISTAKES AND MISSTEPS, AND PUT YOU BACK ON A TRACK THAT GLORIFIES HIM!

Building Blocks

by Dr. Paul Chappell
“To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.”
1 Peter 2:4–6

In our day very few buildings are made of stone. There may be a stone veneer added to the outside for appearances, but generally rock is not considered the best material for most construction projects. But there was a time when stone was the major building block of any significant building. In the Old Testament, we read about the construction of Solomon’s Temple where the blocks were so carefully cut in advance that they could be assembled without being hammered into place. It was critical when building with stone that the cornerstone and foundation be laid right so that the massive weight would be distributed safely and the building would not fall.
But there was another necessary element—the joining of many stones together. Each of us stands before God on our own. We do not need a priest or mediator to go to God on our behalf. That is the role Jesus alone can play. “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” (1 Timothy 2:5). That does not mean, however, that we are to live and serve Him as isolated individuals. Instead, His plan is for us to be joined together in a local church to build His work. Each stone has a place to fill in the wall so that it is complete. Each stone brings something to a role that no one else can fill in exactly the same way. Each stone is necessary for the strength and stability of the whole building.

Today’s Growth Principle:
God’s work requires each of us doing our part for the local church to be fully effective as He designed.
