The
Lord Will Fight for You
TODAY’S
SCRIPTURE
The Lord will fight for
you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest.
Exodus 14:14, AMP.
TODAY’S
WORD
In life, we’re always going
to have critics. We’ll always have difficult people who try to upset us and
steal our peace and joy. But, you don’t have to respond to every critic. You
can decide to take the high road and let God fight your battles for you.
Sometimes, no matter what
you say or do, there are people who aren’t going to accept you. They just don’t
want to be at peace with you. In fact, when Jesus sent out His disciples to
certain homes, He told them to always speak peace over those homes. And then He
said in effect, “If they don’t receive the peace that you’re offering, then it
will come back to you.” That tells me that if you will do your best to be at
peace with people, even if they won’t take your peace, that peace will just
come back to you. You’ll not only get your peace, but you’ll get their share as
well! That’s double for your trouble! When you do the right thing no matter
what is happening, God sees it and rewards it.
PRAYER
FOR TODAY
Father in heaven, I choose
to hold my peace. I choose to do the right thing even when the wrong thing is
happening. I trust that You are fighting my battles for me. I give You all the
honor and praise in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

“Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.” (Colossians 3:16 NLT)
One way to abide in God’s Word is by remembering it. Your capacity to remember is a God-given gift. You may think you have a poor memory, but the truth is, you have millions of ideas, truths, facts, and figures memorized. You remember what is important to you. If God’s Word is important, you will take the time to remember it.
There are enormous benefits to memorizing Bible verses. It will help you resist temptation, make wise decisions, reduce stress, build confidence, offer good advice, and share your faith with others.
Your memory is like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it will become, and memorizing Scripture will become easier. You might begin by selecting a few Bible verses that have touched you and writing them down on a small card you can carry with you. Then review them aloud throughout your day.
You can memorize Scripture anywhere: while working, exercising, driving, waiting, or at bedtime. The three keys to memorizing Scripture are review, review, and review!
“Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.” (Colossians 3:16 NLT)
Talk About It
- How would your life change if you spent some of your “extra” time on a Bible app instead of a Facebook or “Words with Friends” app?
- Ask a friend to be an accountability partner in memorizing Scripture. Then, share with each other what you’re learning from God’s Word.
