I
was inspired to write about the word for today by Rick Warren in his Dailyhope
“Things
that are seen don’t last forever, but things that are not seen are eternal.
That’s why we keep our minds on the things that cannot be seen.” (2 Corinthians
4:18 CEV)
Things
in this world are temporary, while things cannot be seen are eternal. The
eternal things we are referring that are unseen in the spiritual realms - Jesus
Christ, the heaven and His kingdom. Knowing the nature of God is truly amazing.
I cannot fathom how He able to send His own son who came into this world just
to show how He loves us. The Holy Bible had spoken and testify that truth in
John 3:16 and this also includes the people during that time as 'eye witness'
on how Jesus lived here on Earth. We cannot deny the fact because history
speaks itself. The resurrection of Jesus Christ gave us the assurance that He
was indeed the son of God who came, died and rose again and it is the essence
we are celebrating 'Easter' every year. No other man who lived on Earth who
rose again after death. It was only Jesus Christ and it was testified by his
disciple and other people who witness His appearance before leaving this Earth
with this powerful message.."But you will receive power when the Holy
Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem , and in all Judea and Samaria , and to the ends of the earth. After
saying this, He was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they
could no longer see Him.." - Acts 1:8-9
We
as Christians are even grateful until this time; even though we did not see
Jesus Christ in person, we believed in Him. We testified that He is the son of
God because of those witnesses (His disciples) who believed in Him too. They
wrote the life of Jesus Christ, including all their sufferings and persecutions
in believing the kind of faith they have in Christ. These disciples have their
own historical records that can be seen and verified. Their authenticity cannot
be denied. If a judge makes a judgment, their records are indeed strong
evidences that like Jesus Christ, they lived and mingled with other people who
also became a witness just like us today. A proof that God Himself also
protects His own people in order that a 'living successor' just like us to be a
witness of His existence. As a believer, I don't think He will allow His own
people to die without any survivor to be a LIVING WITNESS here on Earth.
Relatively,
this reminds me of the Emperor's New Clothes. The little child who cried out
and said, "But he isn't wearing anything at all!" was the only
witness who's brave enough to say so. An innocent child yet so powerful. This
is a wonderful unreal story that an author can create and very influential for
people to believe that only one child is indeed a great witness for truth. How
much more of the things that happened, more real and indisputable with all the
many living witnesses that the Bible is referring to.
