“A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” (1 Corinthians 12:7 NLT, second edition)
God has a unique role for you to play in his family.
This is your ministry, and God has gifted you for your assignment: “A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other” (1 Corinthians 12:7 NLT, second edition).
Your local fellowship is the place God designed for you to discover, develop, and use your gifts. You may also have a wider ministry, but that is in addition to your service in a local church. Jesus has not promised to build your ministry; he has promised to build his Church.
You will share in Christ’s mission in the world. When Jesus walked the earth, God worked through the physical body of Christ; today he uses his spiritual Body. The Church is God’s instrument on Earth.
We are not just to model God’s love by loving each other; we are to carry it together to the rest of the world. This is an incredible privilege we have been given together.
As members of Christ’s Body, we are his hands, his feet, his eyes, and his heart. He works through us in the world. We each have a contribution to make.
Paul tells us, “He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing” (Ephesians 2:10 MSG).

Talk It Over
  • What are your spiritual gifts? How are you using them to serve the Church?
  • How are you modeling God’s love through your words and actions among believers? What about among non-believers?
  • What do you think happens when you do not use the gifts God has given you to serve?
  • Today’s Scripture
...and his name shall be called...The Prince of Peace.”
    (Isaiah 9:6, KJV)

    The Prince of Peace
Aren’t you glad Jesus is our Prince of Peace? He rules our hearts with peace. He gives us peace that passes understanding—which means we can have peace when it doesn’t make sense. We can have peace in the midst of the storm. We can have peace in the midnight hour. We can have peace when gas prices go up and the housing market goes down. We can have constant peace because we are connected to the true source of peace!
Do you need more peace in your life? Call on the Prince of Peace. Give Him your burdens and cares. The Bible says that His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. When we are living the way God intends—full of peace and joy—we are carrying His “light” burden. We don’t have to carry the worries and stresses of this life! Call on the Prince of Peace, and He’ll take you places that you’ve never dreamed!
    A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for peace that guides and protects me. I choose Your Word today which says that I can walk and live in Your peace. Thank You for being the Prince of Peace over every area of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
