“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.” (1 Timothy 6:17 NIV)
You may be under a lot of stress right now because of a sickness, your job, the economy, or a relationship, but God still wants you to enjoy life.
He doesn’t want you to live without fun. The apostle Matthew spent three years with Jesus and he wrote, “The Son of Man came, enjoying life” (Matthew 11:19a Phillips).
As a Christian, you can enjoy life because your conscious is clear. You can enjoy life because you are secure within God’s love. You can have fun, laughing in church. You can enjoy friends and family.
Unfortunately, there are many people who do not want to let God into their lives because they fear God will make them give up anything that is fun.
In other words, they think that to become a Christian is the same as saying the party’s over, that to be spiritual is to be miserable. People are frantically looking for fun fixes, but that means they operate under the law of diminishing returns. They spend more time, more money, and more energy to get less and less of a thrill. They go around asking, “Are we having fun yet?”
The way you fight fear is with truth and the truth says God “richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment” (1 Timothy 6:17b NIV).
God loves you. Let him carry your burden, and give him that worry that is stressing you out. It’s time to enjoy life!
Talk It Over
  • How is it possible to enjoy life in the midst of a struggle or stress? Does God want you to ignore your responsibilities?
  • Why do you think people assume Christians are miserable people?
  • What has God provided for your enjoyment? Are you taking full advantage of it?
Today’s Scripture
“The vision is yet for an appointed time...”
(Habakkuk 2:3, NKJV)

It’s Your Time
God has planted seeds of greatness on the inside of you, and He has predestined that those things in your heart come to pass. You may have had more than your share of unfair things happen in your life. You probably have plenty of reasons to just settle where you are. But understand, the depth of your past is an indication of the height of your future.
If you’ve been through a lot of negative things in the past, it just means that your future is bigger and brighter and greater than you can even imagine. It’s your time to step out and embrace all that God has for you! Are there dreams and promises that you’ve let go of? Are there things that God has placed in your heart, but because of time, because of disappointments, you’ve given up on them?
Today is the day to give your dreams a new beginning. Today is the day to allow faith to rise in your heart. Remember, what’s happened to you is not nearly as important as what’s happened in you, and you are stronger and wiser than ever before. It’s your time; it’s your season to move forward into the destiny that God has prepared for you!
A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for what You are doing in my life today. I receive the vision You have for me. I receive Your hope. I look forward with joy to all You have for my future in Jesus name. Amen!”
