Be Still

Joel Osteen Ministries | Today's Word
Be Still

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:
Be still, and know that I am God…
Psalm 46:10, NIV.

TODAY'S WORD:
When God created Adam, He put him in the Garden of Eden, a very quiet, peaceful, tranquil place. That’s where God met him and spoke with him, in a place of peace.

Today’s life can be very noisy. If we allow it, all of us can live stressed, uptight, in a hurry and on edge. In the midst of the whirlwind of activity going on around us, we’ve got to learn to not let the busyness, the frustration and stress get on the inside of us. It may be hectic on the outside, but deep down in your spirit, you can be at rest because you know God has you in the palm of His hand.

Maybe you have been worried for a long time or stressed because a dream hasn’t come to pass or upset over a challenge you’re dealing with. Just like God met Adam at a place of peace, God is saying, “There may be trouble all around, but I am calling you to a place of peace. Be still and know that I am God. Come to Me, and I will give you wisdom, strength and grace for everything you face.”

PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Father, thank You for drawing me to the place of peace. I choose to be still. I choose to find rest in You. I choose to trust You knowing that my days are ordered by You in Jesus’ name. Amen.
PS...

"You have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy will be the fullest possible joy." (John 16:24 NCV)
Are you in financial need and waiting for God to help?
God has promised to meet your financial needs. He’s just waiting for you to ask for his help! The Lord never shuts his storehouse until you shut your mouth.
One of the reasons why we see so few miracles in our lives is because we just don't ask for them. Instead of living a life based on Christ, we live a life based on credit. When we have something we need in our life, instead of stopping and asking God for it, before we even think about asking God for it, we just use that credit card. We trust credit instead of Christ.
If you want to see God work in your life, pray for it before you pay for it. Do you pray about major purchases before you make them? Or do you just take care of it with your credit card? Every time you use that credit card before praying about it, you're short-circuiting a possible miracle in your life. Before you charge a purchase, why don't you ask God about it first?
God is not going to give you everything you pray for, so don't be surprised. But there are some things he does want to give you just to do a miracle in your life. Many of you have never had a financial answer to prayer, because you've never prayed specifically.
"You have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy will be the fullest possible joy" (John 16:24 NCV). Do you know why God wants you to learn to ask for things in prayer? So he can give them, and so you'll be full of joy. God is a loving father. He's not some ogre sitting in the sky, waiting to make your life a bummer. He wants to bless your life! You just have to ask.
Talk It Over
  • Describe your spending habits and tendencies.
  • What is your family’s policy when it comes to making large purchases?
  • What are the ways your life reflects that you trust God with your finances?

  1. Thanks for the compliment Mr. Marlow.
    God bless you and Italy.
Italy reminds me of my friend Giordana Querceto, an architect with a good heart that I met in Dubai. =)
